Holodexxx Mobile AR Porn Review
Holodexxx is a long running patreon AR and VR porn project that is gradually evolving into a bona-fide AR porn site. You can now purchase an AR porn app from the site that allows you to place photo scanned 3D pornstars into your environment. It still exists also as a patreon project, and you can also get access to their AR and VR adult content through supporting them there.
This short review will devote itself entirely to the Holodexxx mobile AR phone app. At this stage, it only appears to work on Android phones, namely phones with Android 7 and above. I peronally tested it on a Samsung Galaxy 9+, the same phone I used to test the augmented reality of both Naughty America and BadoinkAR.
The girls were captured using 3D volumetric scanning technology, in a way in which I assume is similar to the other two major studios pioneering AR porn (mentioned above). In comparison to the resolution and photo realism of these two, I would say it’s very similar or perhaps marginally better. However, there is one major and glaring difference – the AR girls of Holodexxx do not move. While the scanned models of Naughty America Strip Club and BadoinkAR dance, tease, or engage in simulated sex movements, the 3D holograms of Holodexxx are completely static. All you can do is slowly rotate them in 3D, either left or right.

Like the other two AR porn sites, you can pinch to increase or decrease their size, and also move them up or down in attempt to get a realistic placement on the floor. The AR app should do that itself, as when you open it and select your model, you scan your floor or surface so the AI can correctly place them. But it doesn’t do a particularly good job, and manually adjusting them into place isn’t much better at all. In fact, the placement is the worst I’ve seen of any AR app, adult or not. The lack of realism in the placement of the girl is not helped either by the fact that, unlike the other AR sites/apps, there is only an ill-defined shadow on the floor cast by the girls of Holodexxx. You can see for yourself these problems in the screenshots I took of Mia Malkova as she rotated around in my hallway. This was the closest to the floor I could get her…and she still appears to be floating above it.
There is a good selection of models/scans, with no less than 9 porn actresses to choose from, including big names such as Riley Reid and Mia Malkova. As in Naughty America Strip Club, you can also place the 3D scanned pornstars in digitally created virtual environments in VR. To do this, you need a PC (and Holodexxx were recently rejected by Steam) and the Oculus Rift headset. I haven’t tried this, but it would appear this is a bit more sophisticated, and there are ways of interacting with the 3D girls too. It seems that the AR porn app is lagging behind the VR application.
It was hard to find the actual itch.io page to purchase and download the app from, but here is the link. Also, at the time of publication it is stating that the app costs $2.99 (40% off) but I had to pay $5.96 for it when it was in my shopping cart.
Is it worth it? Well, if you are a sex tech fan eager to see the current state of AR porn on your phone, then I guess so, but if you are looking to jerk off with Riley Reid or whoever in front of you in your room, then I’d wait until you can either view it through AR glasses, or they have their girls at least moving, if not interacting with you.
The blunt truth is that AR porn is a difficult nut to crack, with the tech involved being far more complex than VR porn. Holodexxx not only still has a long way to go, it is some way behind its rivals.
